Wilton Crescent 3

A luxurious new look for a historic Georgian townhouse

In 2024 we completed our third project on one of London’s most exclusive streets, Wilton Crescent in Belgravia. The exceptional Grade II-listed Georgian townhouse, spanning six floors and almost 10,000ft², required a total refurbishment.

Home to three generations of the same family, the property comprises a mews house connected to the main building, arranged around a central courtyard and terrace. It has seven bedrooms and seven bathrooms, as well as several spacious reception rooms, two kitchens, a large garage and a lift.

The existing conservatory was fully refurbished

Having first secured planning and listed building consent, we completed a full refurbishment and remodelling of the building, restoring original features and installing new spaces including a home cinema, a gym and treatment rooms, to create a highly luxurious family home that was delivered on time and on budget.

It was also possible to increase the footprint of the home without any major structural work simply by infilling a central lightwell and fitting a roof light over the lowest level of the courtyard. Ventilation from the service kitchen on the lower-ground floor was cleverly concealed under a bench in the courtyard, and we sensitively renovated a rather run-down timber conservatory to create a serene and light-filled space.

MDesign acted as both project managers and interior designers, producing a bold and distinctive scheme, which was dressed by Dubai homeware company 1865 La Maison.

A range of vibrant stone was sourced from marble specialist Livra for shelving and wall panels as well as flooring, countertops and bathroom units, while Jaysam crafted bespoke joinery. We worked closely with the interior design team and the client throughout the process to interpret their vision for a unique and elegant home while retaining original features and preserving the character of the building.
